Happy Thanksgiving!
I love this reminder in my otherwise stressful weeks (months) to relax and remember all that God has blessed me with- An amazing family with (once you add all our exchange students) 10 siblings, 2 jobs that couldn't be more perfect, the ability to pay for college up front with no debt which means I can actually get a degree, Health even though I fight sinus infections all the time I'm not really ill, An incredible College small group that stretches my faith and helps me to grow in so many ways, Friends who I may not get to see more then 2 times a year but mean as much to me as sisters, and last by deffinitly not least- an incredible Savior and Father who have given me this life to live for His Glory.
It's so easy to not be thankful and it's sad that we seem to need this reminder to be so. It's even more depressing that a day meant for thanks is now centered around gluteny, Parades, football and preparing to spend all night shopping. We forget that the true reason for this day amid all the chaos- is to give thanks, a day centered on giving thanks. I have this feeling that if we spent more days centered on giving thanks that life would seem to run more smoothly, because we'd have that reminder that it's not about us, it's about Him.
"Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into His presence with singing!
Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is He who made us, and we are His;
we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving,
and His courts with praise!
Give thanks to Him; bless His name!
For the LORD is good;
His steadfast love endures forever,
and His faithfulness to all generations."
