Legacy

(I know I know, my main point is at the end of the post, but I had to give background information! ;) )

Growing up I always thought seniors were, well ya know. "Awesomely cool" mostly because -they- got to be done with school soon, oh and they were so much taller then I was. Truth be told, most of them are still taller then me. ;) But views change, instead of being that 2nd grader who thought being a senior would be the highlight of life as a student, I am now the Senior who realizes how amazing and simple life was then. We tend to take that for granted don't we? Or maybe it's just not being content on where we are and where God has placed us in that moment.

These next few months will be more insane then I ever though possible. I mean, it's all amazing stuff, but insane is still insane. My youth group is getting ready to go to Puerto Rico! If you think of it be praying for us! There's 26 kids going, largest group ever for us! But with that come lots of fundraisers, and reasons for our group to become a closer tighter knit group. The big thing right now is getting ready for the dinner theater. 5 more practices as I write this and I'm 100% sure we'll be ready. Our director is pretty amazing and puts up with us much longer then I'm sure I would have if I were her, we're a pretty rowdy group. :p

But actually, whether this be good or bad, my big excitement coming up has nothing to do with Puerto Rico. The weekend after the dinner theater I get to go hang out at MACHE (Minnesota Association for Christian Home Educators) at the Gen J Booth! So very excited for that. :) oh! And even bigger is the week after April I'm going down to Missouri!! Actually, the college is in Arkansas, but our friends live in MO. :) My Dad is even coming down too! So that is what I'm looking forward to.

What hit me today was this- When I return from MO, I will have to weeks left as a Highschool student. TWO. WEEKS. Wowza. I mean, I can't wait for my trip to come up! And to me it seems like it's coming up so soon! But I hadn't thought about graduating yet. That still seems like it should be WAY off, like.. Way WAY off in some distant Future. Not, in my next two months. But really, what am I going to do with my last two months as a highschool student? I know I'm not in a private or public school situation, but the question is still valid. What kind of "Legacy" will I leave? What will I be remembered for as a highschool student? it's a big chunk of life to leave behind and move forward from. It's one of those big markers in life that divide your life into very noticeable "chunks". We all want to be remembered about the good things, but what about the bad things? What's your Legacy?

Seasons come and seasons go - Most of the time

The following is a statement from our daytime/weekend weather man.  "Keyc Mankato Snow Facts about our notable season: Since November 1st, 84.5 inches of snow. That's nearly 30" more than what we had last year (56.5", which seemed like a lot!) We've had snow on the ground since November 13th. That's nearly 4 months of snow... 1/3 of the year! -Meteorologist Mitch Keegan" Now don't take me wrong. I LOVE winter. It is by far my fav season. But most of our seasons aren't normally this long, we have lots of "in-between seasons". The truth? I'm tired of having to wear sunglasses anytime I'm outside to not be blinded by the sheer whiteness of everything. I'd like to see some green, and wear a t-shirt without a hoodie. pretty please? Oh And well.. even with our 25 foot dikes they're really worried about flooding. :( North Mankato is well below the dike line and there's already talk of people moving stuff out of the...

I Believe In A Lie

Everyone has a lie that plays in the back of their head so often that they don't know when they started believing it, or where the lie came from, it's just a recognized fact. My lie is that I am alone in the world.  I don't think anyone ever told me that I was alone in the world, or that it was my job to protect myself from the universe, but it is most definitely how my brain has functioned for as long as I can remember. Wherever I've moved or whoever I'm around, this lie follows me. As I've gotten older I have come to a place in life where I recognize that this is a lie, and some days I can even not believe it. But still, this lie persistently lives in my head. I think I can say with confidence that this is a lie of the enemy that I will fight the rest of my life.  Recently, this lie has been winning more battles than I care to admit. Let me explain. You see, throughout college, God was pushing me and molding me. Part of this molding was le...

I battle not against flesh...

" Finally,  be strong in the Lord and in  the strength of his might. Put on  the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against  the schemes of the devil. For  we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against  the rulers, against the authorities, against  the cosmic powers over  this present darkness, against  the spiritual forces of evil  in the heavenly places. Therefore  take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in  the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore,  having fastened on the belt of truth, and  having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and,  as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up  the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all  the flaming darts of  the evil one; and take  the helmet of salvation, and...
