Never Say life is boring.

I got up this morning at 7:45 to get ready for church, I was greeted at my bedroom door by my Dad, who had a phone in his hand. He looks at me and asked if I could play the piano (At least that's what *I* heard) And he then said to get ready to go ASAP because the Piano player was stuck at home due to the massive storm outside (Why did we go in then?! Anyways...). We got out of the house in under 30 min (my family of 5, my bros two friends that were over and our exchange student) And proceeded to barely make it into church. At this point I was still drinking coffee and was NOT awake. I believe I was asked a few questions that I don't think my answers to made any sense... Anyways we lost our drummer because his mom almost got stuck on the way home, and this was oh, 2 min before church? I had played through 2 of the songs before church so I was well, out of it. :p Church involved about 20 people max, considering we normally average around 80 :p yeah. Anyways, My parents were going to head home after 1st service and My pastor (who lives by us) was going to give me a ride home. Well it was getting even worse, and 10 people were there for 2nd service, so I ended up just going home with my family. the roads were only PARTIALLY plowed, we saw one guy who was very much in the ditch (like 10 yards away from the road) and the snow is very heavy. Now for those of you who are not used to snow, Heavy snow acts like slush, it sticks to your wheels and you have a greater risk of losing traction, if you are smart a 4x4 drive MIGHT help, just remember that all vehicles have 4x4 BREAKS. We barely made it to the developmental, going 30 mph and riding down the middle of the road. Now my mom's van rides VERY low. And we drug the ENTIRE way home. Mom's van actually started lifting OFF the road, for those of you who might not know this... It helps to have all four wheels on the ground. ;)  We had just got in to the development and we almost went into the ditch, the snow grabbed our wheels and we slid nose first towards the ditch. Dad got us stopped and back on the road. there's a big hill going to our house... and well, we got stuck. :p right at the top. Now I must admit this we exciting for me! I have never gotten stuck before so there was an aspect of "ohhhhhh" in it. We all got out and pushed and dug for 15 min and did make it home. We were all wet and cold and covered with snow. But well, God is good, and there's no place like HOME. :)

  1. Haha, that's quite a day.
Yes, life is an adventure (or is it a dance?). :)

I had my first experience of near stuck recently. We were visiting someone at a hospital a ways away, and the van battery died. Picture a big 15 passenger van full of kids, no heat, zero degrees outside, kinda scary. (but you also have the cool in there. :P ) So, someone else we knew was there, who had jumper cables, and we got it started again, after pushing it where the cables would reach. Since Daddy is going to deploy soonish (like, this year probably), Mommy told me to learn how to do it. So I technically know how to use jumper cables, but it's kinda scary 'cause Daddy told me about all the things that could go wrong...

Anyway, amen. God is good. He makes all things work out for good. And stories like that help us to trust Him more. :)

Seasons come and seasons go - Most of the time

The following is a statement from our daytime/weekend weather man.  "Keyc Mankato Snow Facts about our notable season: Since November 1st, 84.5 inches of snow. That's nearly 30" more than what we had last year (56.5", which seemed like a lot!) We've had snow on the ground since November 13th. That's nearly 4 months of snow... 1/3 of the year! -Meteorologist Mitch Keegan" Now don't take me wrong. I LOVE winter. It is by far my fav season. But most of our seasons aren't normally this long, we have lots of "in-between seasons". The truth? I'm tired of having to wear sunglasses anytime I'm outside to not be blinded by the sheer whiteness of everything. I'd like to see some green, and wear a t-shirt without a hoodie. pretty please? Oh And well.. even with our 25 foot dikes they're really worried about flooding. :( North Mankato is well below the dike line and there's already talk of people moving stuff out of the...

I Believe In A Lie

Everyone has a lie that plays in the back of their head so often that they don't know when they started believing it, or where the lie came from, it's just a recognized fact. My lie is that I am alone in the world.  I don't think anyone ever told me that I was alone in the world, or that it was my job to protect myself from the universe, but it is most definitely how my brain has functioned for as long as I can remember. Wherever I've moved or whoever I'm around, this lie follows me. As I've gotten older I have come to a place in life where I recognize that this is a lie, and some days I can even not believe it. But still, this lie persistently lives in my head. I think I can say with confidence that this is a lie of the enemy that I will fight the rest of my life.  Recently, this lie has been winning more battles than I care to admit. Let me explain. You see, throughout college, God was pushing me and molding me. Part of this molding was le...

I battle not against flesh...

" Finally,  be strong in the Lord and in  the strength of his might. Put on  the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against  the schemes of the devil. For  we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against  the rulers, against the authorities, against  the cosmic powers over  this present darkness, against  the spiritual forces of evil  in the heavenly places. Therefore  take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in  the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore,  having fastened on the belt of truth, and  having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and,  as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up  the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all  the flaming darts of  the evil one; and take  the helmet of salvation, and...
